This is Maggie Jo MinYi Davis!  Isn't she a cutie Pie?  These are the only pictures we have of her.  She has more hair than I do.  I think she is looking right at us in the picture.  Lili says she loves her.  I wonder if that will change when Lili figures out Maggie isn't going away after a few hours. We also took a picture of the FedEx Man bringing us our referral packet with "Maggie Jo" in it!  The sun was really bright behind me taking the picture, so all the kids are fighting not to squint.   -Scott

The information we currently have is very limited.  On Saturday we will receive via FedEx our packet from FTIA.  It will have medical information and a photograph of Maggie Jo.  We have researched the Tonggu County Social Welfare Institute (Orphanage) in Jiangxi Province, and it looks very nice.  Our information is that it has been totally remodeled in the past few years and all babies from this orphage have simular names.  Babies at the Tonggu orphanage are given the surname Tong and the first of their “given name” is Min so their names (with the surname first) are all Tong Min xxxxx (this last part of the name varies).   Our Maggie Jo's given name is Tong Min Yi, so we will probably name her  Maggie Jo MinYi Davis.  That may change as we get closer though.  She is very young.  She was a New Year's day baby, so she will be nearly eight months when we get her in September.  I will need to pray for patience in the store.  Lili has informaed me she will be Maggie's mommy.  I imagine she will need some assistance from time to time.  I will update this Saturday when we get a picture.  -Scott

Sometimes you pose kids for pictures and they won't smile.  Then other times you have to run out to the car and grab the camera and hope they are still "being cute" when you get back.  The later is the case of the pictures below.  Lili and her little buddy Allison Rusk.  Sometimes you see a scene that only a properly painted Ford can compliment.  Such was the photo of the local business in New Castle Indiana.  I found it odd it was not in Columbus because I believe IU Football has only been out west once in like a hundred years and lost to boot!

We had a wonderful weekend visiting with the ten other families who traveled to China in the fall of 2003 with us to get Lili.  I think it is a huge testament to FTIA, that every single family but one was there, and they (like we will be soon) were in China adding another precious little girl to their family of seven now.  We wish the Ross family a safe journey home this week and may even have a surprise for them at the airport . . .  US!

We  traveled to Indianapolis this weekend and had a great time yesterday at the Children's museum, and today at the FTIA Reunion Picnic.  The China group grows larger each year (This is our 3rd time) and each year the folks at FTIA do an even better job of entertaining and feeding us all.  I can not think of a single reason why everyone should not have had fun. We also met some of the couples that we will be traveling to China with to get Maggie Jo in September. This evening we went to Ruby Tuesdays with two other families we traveled with to China in 2003.    I am anxious to make another DVD/Video of our trip.  If anyone is reading this and has not seen our 75 minute DVD of our trip to China in Oct/Nov 2003 to bring home Lili, just send me an email  sos@loganrec.com and we will see about getting one in the mail to you.  Below are a couple of fun pictures taken at the Indianapolis Children's Museum, and a picture of Lili's buddies from her trip home from China.  -Scott

We  have been extremely busy the last month.  I could probably write 10 pages.  All is well with Lili and her family.  We are all on pins and needles as our dear friends from our first trip to China are there now and have another beautiful daughter.  It is making me crazy waiting to read their email each day.  We are "on deck" as we will learn later this week about Maggie Jo.   I have gone back and read our referral information we received from China on Lili and wonder with anxious energy who our new daughter will be.   She has been in our hearts for months, but not yet in our eyes and minds.  I know we will be blessed again, but just don't have a cute little pair of eyes to dream of.   Lili is praying for her sister each day and says "Maggie safe" if you ask her to say a prayer for her.  Below are some pictures of the past month.  We got a call that the family who were supposed to visit the cabin over the fourth were not going to, so we hastily made a trip up on Thursday and home on Monday.  Traffic was terrible because of all the Michigan Construction.  The Excursion was up to the task and the new diesel Powerstroke 6.0 blessed us with 20 mpg.  Tracy was ready to skin me alive when we took all 19 feet of it on the snowmobile trails and I stopped in the middle of a bridge to snap a picture.

We will be in Indianapolis this weekend for FTIA's annual picnic celebration.  There is a chance we will get our referral this weekend, so check back on the status right here!   - Scott

We have been very busy the past couple of weeks.  We bought a different vehicle in anticipation of the new addition later this summer.  We found the Ford Expedition to be too cramped for our family and all the things Lili and her brothers require on trips, so we upsized to a Ford Excursion.  It has an extra three feet behind the boys in the third seat.  I imagine the Sierra Club will no longer consider us a good green family.  We opted for the Power Stroke Diesel because of it's pulling power and better mpg, nearly 20 mpg on the highway.  It's colors are scarlet and gray, so Woody should be smiling down upon us. .  This weekend we are in Holmes County, Ohio with Tracy's sisters and their families and her mom and dad.  It is an annual trip we all go on together, although the location changes each year.  We have been enjoying the slower pace of the Amish lifestyle and had a meal to die for last night in the home of a local Amish family.  It was some of the best cooking I have ever had, and my mom and wife are both world class cooks!   Lili and I watched Nemo  (Disney's Finding Nemo) this evening while the boys were playing card games in the hotel Lobby.   We were locked out of our room for three hours this morning as the high-tech lock refused to open no matter how much we glared at it.  The hotel management was so apologetic, that I felt bad.  It really was not that big of a deal, except my cameras were safely in the room as we traveled the back roads of Amishville.   About every half a mile we were faced with getting around a horse and buggy and dodging oncoming traffic, so we found roads that were not on the map or in the GPS system to be more to our liking.  If you have never been to Holmes County, I would recommend it.  It is much more built up that when we were here 4 years ago, but has not lost it's quaintness that we find so appealing.

We should hear from the Chinese Adoption Services in the next month, and learn who Maggie Jo is, and when she will join us.  I am unbelievably excited and find myself sharing our story with total strangers we meet.  I admit I am most proud of my boys and Lili and want to tell everyone about this website.  It is a labor of love, and if it helps one family find the courage to adopt a child, my goal will be realized.  Whilst in China,  I intend to share many pictures and a diary of our trip whenever possible.  I will probably send out an email message to all who know us and many who do not!  It is hard to not get excited when our family is about to grow by one more, knowing this will be our last.  The Chinese only place children with families with four prior children living at home, and we will become a family of seven* with Maggie Jo.  We believe eight is enough.
*We do include Gracie Jo (Aug. 18, 2000-March 6, 2002) in our family, and she would make us eight.

As I type this in the hotel, Lili is napping on the bed next to me.  We went shopping today for beds for her and MaggieJo.  Tracy and I still do not see eye to eye on the type and style, but like everything else, the final decision will be somewhere in the middle.  I would like bunk beds with an integrated computer desk, she is more the canopy bed connoisseur.

Because our cameras were not available on our road trip today, I do not have pictures to share of our travels.   However, we have recently had some beautiful pictures of Lili taken by our family's photographer, and I show them here with Sonny's permission.  She has a way of getting our children to smile, and capture them accurately to film.  I will list her contact information below the pictures.  Enjoy your summer, the Fourth of July will be here in three weeks!  -Scott

Lili and Sophie enjoyed seeing each other again.  They lived in the same orphanage in China and we visited her the night before we attended the Columbus Ohio Asian Festival.  They played dress up and were assisted by Sophie's older sisters.
