January 17, 2004
Well, we tried it again and it seems either the snow was not too deep or daddy was faster.  I was able to make it back in the picture in time.  We forgot the tripod, so I set the camera on the rocking chair.  The runners acted like skis and worked great.  This year Michael (12) Nicholas (8) and Christopher (6 and a half) were limited somewhat by the subzero temperatures.  For more pictures from this trip click here.

On October 26, 2003 we were joined by Lilian Grace ShuLan Davis
We adopted her from China and her website is found here.

We have really enjoyed riding the Polaris Ranger all over the "snowmobile" trails.  Well worth the $16 ORV sticker.  We saw Redtail hawks, Bald Eagles and Sandhill Cranes.  We saw two of the largest deer I have ever seen up here, and fresh Moose tracks. We put on 65 miles today.  Crossed "puddles" a mile long, 30" deep,  and climbed sand dunes that leave a lesser machine at the bottom.  We have also packed out other peoples trash and carried out some small pieces of drift wood.  We also brought home 50 pounds of dust in our hair, clothes and lungs!  We only used 1/2 tank of gas.

Christmas 2000

This year Christmas was at the Dome.  Notice the difference in the snow depth between this picture and the one below it!  You will also notice "daddy" couldn't make it back in front of the camera in time.  Seems 30 pounds and 30" of snow were a nearly impossible combination!  We had a wonderful 14 day stay.

October 2000

This year we made a quick trip up to the Dome October 19th - 22nd to setup the camera and hang the Christmas lights.  We also took up "Santa's" gifts for the boys.  Seems he is coming to the Dome this year.  We will arrive at the start of Michael's School's Christmas vacation. I can't wait to get some pics of the cabin with the snow and lights this year.  You will notice we have a "little addition" from this year to last year.  I also noticed that it was getting a bit more difficult for me to beat the camera back to my seat before the flash went off.  It seems I gained 20 pounds over the last year "due to the pregnancy".

Thanksgiving 1999

Our first long weekend in the Cabin brought us a few flurries. For the first time in fifteen years, we spent Thanksgiving on our own.  Our family of five shared the turkey with Jay and Laura, our dear friends from Paradise.  There was plenty of food left over.   I still can't eat Turkey !

In the picture above, we are on the south side porch of the Dome.  It was cooler than it was at our home in Ohio, but warmed up nicely in the  afternoon.  We will be spending many more long weekends here.  The boys and Tracy like the many woods, and the peace and quiet.  I like the fact that very few people know how to reach me up here!  The cabin's phone number is Top Secret, but listed in the "Soo" phone book.
